Psychological and Psychoeducational Evaluations
The Student Evaluation Center provides comprehensive, individualized evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Each evaluation is designed around the client’s history, current concerns, and specific referral questions.
Evaluations for Children and Adolescents
Evaluations may examine cognitive abilities, academic achievement, attention and executive functioning, communication, adaptive functioning, personality, mood, behavior, and social-emotional development. They can help clarify concerns involving ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder and dyslexia, Intellectual Disability, developmental conditions, and emotional or behavioral difficulties.
Families receive a comprehensive, easy-to-understand report with individualized recommendations for treatment, instruction, intervention, accommodations, and educational planning.
Evaluations for Adults
Adult evaluations may examine cognitive abilities, attention and executive functioning, memory, academic skills, adaptive functioning, personality, mood, behavior, and social-emotional functioning. They can help clarify concerns involving ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties, intellectual functioning, and emotional or psychological conditions.
Adults receive a comprehensive report with practical, individualized recommendations for treatment, college or workplace accommodations, independent functioning, relationships, and everyday life.
Psychological and psychoeducational evaluations that include DSM-5-TR diagnostic conclusions are completed under the clinical supervision of a licensed Health Service Provider in Psychology. The supervising psychologist reviews the evaluation findings and diagnostic formulation and co-signs the report to support accurate and clinically appropriate diagnostic conclusions.
Evaluations are conducted in person at our New Albany, Indiana, office. We serve children, adolescents, and adults throughout Southern Indiana, Louisville, and the greater Kentuckiana area.

Intellectual Disability (ID)

Information from individualized testing, families, educators, observations, and available records is carefully integrated to identify both strengths and areas requiring support. Families and school teams receive clear findings and practical recommendations for individualized instruction, accommodations, functional and life-skills development, and supports that promote meaningful participation and greater independence across school, home, and community settings.
Academic Achievement

An independent academic achievement evaluation provides a detailed understanding of a student’s skills in reading, written expression, and mathematics. Individualized testing identifies specific strengths, skill gaps, and patterns of performance, providing greater clarity about where learning difficulties occur and the foundational skills that may require additional support. Families and educators receive clear findings and practical recommendations for targeted instruction, intervention, accommodations, and educational planning.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

A comprehensive independent educational evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) examines a student’s social communication, relationships, behavior, flexibility, sensory processing, and functioning across settings. The evaluation integrates psychological assessment with included speech-language and occupational therapy evaluations, providing a coordinated understanding of the student’s strengths and support needs. Families and school teams receive clear findings and individualized recommendations for communication, social development, sensory and emotional regulation, classroom participation, accommodations, and educational planning.
SEC is Private Pay Only
The Student Evaluation Center operates as a private-pay practice so evaluations can be designed around each client’s individual needs rather than an insurance company’s coverage rules. This allows us to select appropriate assessment tools, investigate educational and clinical concerns thoroughly, and provide detailed reports with practical recommendations for home, school, and treatment planning.
Private payment also allows SEC to evaluate concerns that health insurance may not cover, including learning disabilities, academic achievement, giftedness, and educational accommodation needs. Fees include individualized test selection, testing, scoring, interpretation, a comprehensive written report, and a feedback conference.
SEC does not bill insurance directly. Upon request, we can provide documentation that clients may submit to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA funds may also be eligible for evaluation expenses; clients should confirm eligibility with their plan administrator.
