The Unseen Curriculum: How Poverty Shapes Student Education
Poverty profoundly impacts student education by shaping brain development, limiting access to resources, and creating emotional and behavioral challenges. From chronic stress and food insecurity to housing instability and the homework gap, these barriers affect attention, attendance, and academic success. Educators and communities must adopt trauma-informed, equity-centered practices to support these students. Until basic needs are met, true learning remains out of reach.
